About Backyard Court Math

Backyard Court Math is published by Aliva Digital. It exists to help people find out whether a sports court fits their yard before they spend money, using plain arithmetic they can check.

How the checker works

The rules are simple and visible. For each footprint, from largest to smallest, the checker tries both orientations at every position that touches a yard edge or an obstacle edge, then falls back to a half-foot grid. A footprint fits only if it lies fully inside the yard and overlaps no obstacle. Nothing you type is saved or sent anywhere.

Where the court sizes come from

Court, kitchen, line and net sizes come from the USA Pickleball Official Rulebook. Playing-area sizes, multi-court layouts and the court diagonal come from the construction guidance published by USA Pickleball and the American Sports Builders Association. Each figure lives in one place in the code with a note saying where it came from, and each source and read date is listed on the tool page. The 52 by 26 ft “Tight backyard” footprint is our own practical minimum, not an official standard.

How the site earns money

Some links to products are or will become affiliate links. If you buy through one, Backyard Court Math may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Results do not depend on whether a product has an affiliate link. Prices and stock change, so each price on the site carries the date it was checked.

What this site is not

Backyard Court Math is not a surveyor, engineer or contractor. Measure on site, and check local rules, setbacks and drainage before you build.
